Our Optometrist routine eye exams include a careful screen of the retina through a comprehensive scan. Located at the back of the eye, the entire retina is screened for abnormalities or disease. The most vulnerable part of the retina, the sensitive tissue that it’s made up of, is susceptible to a variety of diseases, potentially leading to partial loss of vision or complete blindness. Early detection of any retinal abnormality is thus crucial. Previously, this screening was done by dilating the pupils, a procedure that many patients found uncomfortable, inconvenient and time-consuming.

The Optomap™ is made possible by using the latest technological advances available to our Eye Doctors – the California Ultra-Wide Field Retinal Imaging System. The Optomap™ enables us to see nearly all of your retina. Furthermore, it eliminates the discomfort and inconvenience associated with pupil dilation. As a result, you will not experience blurred vision or sensitivity to light following your eye exam. It is important to note however, that should any abnormalities be detected or if we cannot obtain an acceptable image, dilation may be necessary.

The Optomap™ exam is simple: at the push of a button, we can generate a computer image of your retina for immediate review. Experience with this technology has already led to improved disease detection and has possibly prevented vision loss and blindness in several patients.

We will be discussing this revolutionary exam with you further at your next appointment. Here at Archdale Eyecare, we are dedicated to offering our patients the best eye care possible, and acquiring the tools to help us do so. We look forward to seeing you during your next visit – and providing the most comprehensive and advanced vision care available.

Cirrus HD-OCT

The Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT, is a non-invasive technology used for imaging the retina—the multi-layered sensory tissue lining the back of the eye.

Images acquired by the Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT™ precisely measure retinal conditions including glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, macular edema, serous retinopathy, and macular holes. Featuring spectral domain technology, it delivers exquisite high-definition images of ocular structures and detailed analysis tools. Archdale Eyecare Patients will appreciate the precise and fast scans of this machine. These records can be printed and/or saved to digital medium.

The Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner was the first instrument to allow doctors to see cross-sectional images of the retina. This technology has been used in vitreo-retina care for years. However, the latest high-definition scanning technology has revolutionized the way physician’s image and diagnose macular conditions.

OCT by Colorado Springs’ Eye Doctors at Archdale Eyecare, has a precise, next generation algorithms. The Zeiss Cirrus provides highly detailed, high-definition maps and images of the macula and retinal structures. This allows us to make the most accurate diagnosis possible.

We are pleased to inform you that we have recently introduced an advanced technology called the OCULUS Keratograph® 5M into our practice. This equipment is state of the art in accurately diagnosing the Dry Eye Syndrome and documenting the findings. If treatment is necessary, the Keratograph® 5M can compare the before and after treatment results to evaluate the success of the treatment.  To set up your dry eye evaluation give us a call today!

The Visioffice System

Archdale Eyecare’s optical services now include using the Visioffice system by Essilor. The Visioffice System is the only system that captures real, dynamic 3D measurements of the eye, the frame, and visual behavior of the wearer.

TRS 5100

The TRS benefits from Marco’s latest generation of electronic refraction technology. Replacing the standard refractor, it allows our doctors to control the entire refraction process from a keypad small enough to sit in your lap. And because the TRS is completely programmable, all the lenses are moved for you at the touch of a button, taking you to each new refraction step. The automation of the refraction process makes it easier for us and less stressful for you.

The TRS assists in determining your prescription by digitally combining the data from various optical instruments in the office, and then recording the information electronically to eliminate any miscommunication that may occur when transposing your prescription.

New Eye Health Supplement

Macuhealth with LMZ3 is a patented nutritional supplement that contains the three pigments found in the macula. Regular intake of Macuhealth with LMZ3 has been shown to restore macular pigment to normal levels (40% increase in MP over a 6 month period*).

  • Unique formula eye supplement designed to support macular health
  • Scientifically designed to contain ALL the vital carotenoids for macular health – lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin
  • The ONLY available eye supplement with 10mg of meso-zeaxanthin – the only carotenoid found exclusively in the macula
  • Rigorously tested at leading global eye research institutions and endorsed by many eye care professionals worldwide

Scientists have long known that the yellow color, or pigment, inside the macula (central retina) comes from plant compounds known as the carotenoids, which include: lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin. They believe that these plant compounds help protect the macula in two MAJOR ways:

  • Blue-light filter – by absorbing blue light from the broad spectrum and
  • Anti-oxidant Effect – neutralizing harmful free radicals

Importance of Meso-zeaxanthin

(Macular Pigment Research Group at the Waterford Institute of Technology)

  • MZ is the dominant carotenoid in the central fovea
  • Of the three macular carotenoids, MZ is the most powerful antioxidant
  • MZ facilitates a wider range of blue light filtration
  • Ideally located to afford protection against free radical damage
  • MacuHealth with LMZ3 is a patented supplement that combines all three of these carotenoids to help reduce the risk of Macular Degeneration and maintain healthy eyes.

MacuHealth with LMZ3 (90 capsules – approx. 3 month supply) Each capsule contains 10mg Lutein, 10 mg Meso-Zeaxanthin, 2 mg Zeaxanthin
Suggested Use: Take one (1) capsule, once a day with a meal
