The
latest advances in technology are astonishing! Eye Care and Diagnostics At Archdale Eyecare, we are committed to providing the most up-to-date technology in our examination equipment, resulting in accurate and early diagnosis of, progression and treatment of major eye diseases. Read more about our newest piece of equipment!
Any routine eye
exam should always include a careful look at the retina, which is located
at the back of the eye, to screen for abnormalities or disease. The sensitive tissue that makes up the retina is susceptible
to a variety of diseases that can ultimately lead to partial loss of
vision or even complete blindness. Early
detection of any retinal abnormality is thus crucial.
Previously, this screening was done by dilating the pupils, a
procedure that many patients found uncomfortable, inconvenient and
time-consuming. The Optomap is
made possible by using a new technology - the Panoramic200T Retinal
Imaging System. The Optomap
enables us to see nearly all of your retina.
Furthermore, it eliminates the discomfort and inconvenience
associated with pupil dilation. As
a result, you will not experience blurred vision or sensitivity to light
following your eye exam. It
is important to note however, that should any abnormalities be detected or
if we cannot obtain an acceptable image, dilation may be necessary. The Optomap
exam is simple: at the push of a button, we can generate a computer image
of your retina for immediate review.
Experience with this technology has already led to improved
disease detection and has possibly prevented vision loss and blindness in
several patients. We will be
discussing this revolutionary exam with you further at your next
appointment. Here at
Archdale Eyecare, we are dedicated to offering our patients the
best eye care possible, and acquiring the tools to help us do so.
We look forward to seeing you during your next visit - and
providing the most comprehensive and advanced vision care available. To

Here are answers to some questions about Dry Eye and the latest treatment -- RESTASIS® Ophthalmic Emulsion. What are the causes of Dry Eye? Chronic irritation to the surface of the eye can eventually cause a disruption in the normal tear producing system. This may result in a declining quantity of tears. Risk factors for this condition include:
Is Dry Eye Disease a common condition? Yes. In fact, up to 25% of all visits to Eye Care Professionals are due to Dry Eye, making it one of the most common complaints seen by Eye Care Professionals. How is RESTASIS® different from artificial tears? Artificial tears may provide temporary symptomatic relief. In patients with Dry Eye, RESTASIS® works by increasing the production of your eyes' own tears. Artificial tears do not increase tear production. How often in the day do I have to apply RESTASIS® ? RESTASIS® Ophthalmic Emulsion only needs to be applied twice a day -- one drop in each eye, approximately 12 hours apart. How should patients who wear contact lenses use RESTASIS® ?
How do I know if I have Dry Eye Disease? The doctors at Archdale Eyecare can determine whether you have Dry Eye. If you are using artificial tears several times daily, you should call us to set up an evaluation.
